Assise trop ronde, pattes trop plates, surface trop abîmée par la presse ou tout simplement des effets de torsion non désirés, la forme de Bench Press s’est définie à travers un nombre considérable d’expérimentations matérielles. L’énoncé qui précède peut sembler simpliste, mais il se cache dans celui-ci une collaboration humaine précieuse entre les designers et Transrol, une entreprise œuvrant dans le domaine de « métaux ouvrés ». Tous deux eurent une curiosité à comprendre et maîtriser le comportement d’un tube d’acier mis sous pression. Le corps cylindrique est pressé simultanément aux deux extrémités, marquant ainsi les coudes de pliage. Suivant ce premier pressage, les pattes sont repliées vers l'intérieur à un angle de cent dix degrés. La performance structurale du banc est assurée par les pincements tridimensionnels de la feuille d’acier. C’est graduellement, dans un aller-retour entre les tests et la création d’outils sur mesure que le langage formel de Bench Press s’est précisé.

Assise trop ronde, pattes trop plates, surface trop abîmée par la presse ou tout simplement des effets de torsion non désirés, la forme de Bench Press s’est définie à travers un nombre considérable d’expérimentations matérielles. L’énoncé qui précède peut sembler simpliste, mais il se cache dans celui-ci une collaboration humaine précieuse entre les designers et Transrol, une entreprise œuvrant dans le domaine de « métaux ouvrés ». Tous deux eurent une curiosité à comprendre et maîtriser le comportement d’un tube d’acier mis sous pression. Le corps cylindrique est pressé simultanément aux deux extrémités, marquant ainsi les coudes de pliage. Suivant ce premier pressage, les pattes sont repliées vers l'intérieur à un angle de cent dix degrés. La performance structurale du banc est assurée par les pincements tridimensionnels de la feuille d’acier. C’est graduellement, dans un aller-retour entre les tests et la création d’outils sur mesure que le langage formel de Bench Press s’est précisé.
